Activities Cape Breton
The Atlantic province Nova Scotia, and in this case especially Cape Breton Island, offers practically endless opportunities for all kinds of activities and vacation planning because of its many Beaches, Harbors, crystal clear Lakes and Rivers. The warm air and water temperatures in the summer as well as the snow rich and beautiful winters all add to the variety of activities. Although Cape Breton offers a wide variety of activities, the issue of mass tourism has not arisen and has left Cape Breton in its natural, beautiful state. Cape Breton is, without question, an inside tip for anyone, whether you would like to relax in peace and quiet or if you want to seek adventure, Cape Breton Island will not disappoint.
Summer activities Cape Breton Island
Because of the long summers and warm water temperatures water sport activities are abundant. Anything from swimming, diving, surfing, waterskiing and long beach hikes are possible. Travelers will have an opportunity around Cape Breton and on the lakes on Cape Breton to take motorboat tours or take jet-skis out for a cruise. The Bras d’Or lake is a favored destination for sailing with countless islands and picturesque bays. Deep Ocean fishing, for example
Blue-fin Tuna, is also possible. Kayak and Canoe tours through undisturbed nature along the many rivers offer a great opportunity to see the indigenous wildlife. Abundant hiking trails invite travelers to hike for hours. Of course there is the possibility to explore much of Cape Breton’s natural beauty on horseback, or for the modern traveler, by taking ATV-Tours. Cape Breton Island is an Eldorado for Golf enthusiasts with 5 famous 18 hole Golf courses, one of which is Canada’s number one ranked public course. Another course in Nick Faldo Design is being build at the moment.
Winter Activities Cape Breton
Not only summer on Cape Breton has much to offer, but also the winter. If you are looking for downhill skiing, Ski Ben Eoin, a slope directly facing the Bras d’Dor, offers everything for enthusiasts. Aside of the three ski-lifts, travelers can explore many cross-country skiing trails or go on a snowshoe adventure. Keep in mind that cross-country skiing and snowshoeing is not
limited to Ben Eoin, but can be done just about anywhere on Cape Breton. There is a reason why Canada is the country of winter sports. Cape Breton certainly fits in. You can find hockey arenas and rinks in almost every larger town or community. Any ATV-Tour you may have had in mind during the summer can certainly be taken in the winter on Ski-Do. Fishing also continues during the winter, offering new challenges as many lakes freeze on Cape Breton in the winter, giving way to ice-fishing.
